Tradcara Privacy Policy

Tradcara is an app for learning and organising Irish traditional music. This policy explains what happens to your information. The short version: Tradcara is built to keep your data on your device, and we don’t track you.

What stays on your device

Your tunes, instruments, practice history, sets, settings, imported lists, and any photos you take to capture a tune list are stored on your device. We don’t receive them, and photos you capture are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

Optional network features

Most of Tradcara works without an account or our backend. The following optional actions send a request off your device:

• TheSession tune-book import. If you import a public tune book from TheSession, Tradcara requests its public ABC notation from thesession.org. TheSession receives the requested public member identifier and standard connection information such as your IP address. The imported tune book is then stored on your device; Tradcara does not receive it.
• Live sessions, when available. If you host or join a live session, the display name you choose and your session activity (the tunes and sets you select, queue, or mark as played) are sent to our backend so the session can sync, and are visible to the other people in that session.
• Sharing by link, when available. If you publish a shared link or collection, the musical content you choose to share (the set/tunes and their notation) and an optional name are sent to our backend so others can open it. (Sharing a file or QR code directly, phone-to-phone, does not involve our servers.)

This information is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Sessions and shared links are temporary and expire — we don’t build a lasting profile of you, and Tradcara has no accounts or logins.

What we don’t do

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking; we include no third-party ad, analytics, or crash-reporting tools; we don’t collect device or advertising identifiers, your location, contacts, or microphone; and we don’t sell your information.

Camera

Tradcara uses the camera only to scan QR codes for sharing/sessions and to photograph a tune list you want to import. Images are handled on your device.

Service providers

When the optional session or sharing-by-link features are available, our backend runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests (including your IP address, as any internet service does) solely to provide those features. TheSession is an independent service and processes requests for public tune-book imports under its own practices.

Your choices

You choose whether to use TheSession import, live sessions, or sharing-by-link. You can leave or end a session at any time, and shared links expire. To ask us to remove shared content you’ve published, email support@tradcara.com.

Children

Tradcara is not directed to children under 13.
